Common Unit of Account

• The Gulf countries are proceeding to create a tight monetary union by 2010.

• Other countries in the area should consider that approach.

• But it would be helpful for all the countries in the area to settle on a common unit of account, for transactions and in some cases as an anchor for their currencies.
